Noida: An FIR was registered against a Rapido rider for allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a woman who had booked a service on the app to deliver a parcel at Sector 24. The matter came to light after she shared screenshots of the conversation on social media, tagging Rapido co-founder Aravind Sanka and questioning the rider’s conduct and whether such behaviour would have any consequences. The woman, a resident of Sector 11 and a digital communication expert, said she booked two parcel delivery services through Rapido on Sunday. Around two hours after the second parcel had been delivered, she checked her phone and found a message from the delivery rider on the company’s communication portal. The rider first messaged her asking how she was, but it soon transgressed into an unsolicited ‘I love you’.She immediately informed her husband and showed him the messages. She then warned him against contacting her again and said she would complain to the company and police if he called or messaged her again. The rider allegedly responded: “Ha kardo. Jao. Repido me kar do,” which translates to “Go ahead and place a complaint with Rapido.”The woman also said that she tried to lodge a complaint through the company’s portal but could not find a suitable grievance option. Frustrated by the lack of an immediate complaint mechanism, she shared screenshots of the conversation on LinkedIn and other social media platforms. In her post, she wrote, “Being a woman in the country is already difficult, and now even booking a parcel delivery has become a cause of concern.” She also questioned why the rider appeared unconcerned despite being warned of possible police action. The complainant also raised questions about the recruitment process and monitoring mechanisms adopted by app-based service providers. She said companies should ensure proper verification of delivery partners and establish accessible complaint systems to address customer safety concerns promptly. The incident triggered widespread reactions online, with several users demanding stricter background verification of delivery personnel and stronger safety measures on digital platforms. The post also caught Rapido’s attention and it replied, “We are sorry to learn about the unpleasant experience you faced during your parcel delivery ride. We understand your concern regarding the reported captain’s behavior, and we take such matters very seriously. Customer safety, dignity, and respect are our top priorities.”Cops at the Sector 24 police station took cognisance of the matter and registered an FIR against the unidentified rider on Friday under section 67 of the IT Act, 2008 and BNS Section 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).Officials said efforts are under way to identify and trace the rider.
