Patna: A 27-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws at Biropur village under the Sadar police station area in Vaishali district on Thursday. The incident reportedly occurred after the woman slapped her son over a petty issue. The deceased was identified as Anu Kumari, wife of Rakesh Kumar, a resident of the village. Her husband and other in-laws have been absconding since the incident, police said.Anu’s father, Subodh Kumar Mishra, said his daughter had called him late Wednesday evening, alleging that her husband and in-laws had assaulted her after she slapped her four-year-old son. “The next morning, a local resident informed me about my daughter’s death. When we reached Biropur village, we found Anu’s body lying on a sofa, and her in-laws had fled,” he said, adding Anu was married five years ago.On receiving information, a team from the Sadar police station reached the spot and began an investigation. A forensic team was also called to collect evidence.“The woman’s body has been sent to Sadar hospital for post-mortem. Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s father, an FIR has been registered against the husband and in-laws. The case is under investigation, and further action will be taken accordingly,” said Subodh Kumar, Sadar SDPO.
