Kanpur: A woman in Kannauj has accused a police constable of taking Rs 1,000 in cash and Rs 640 through UPI in exchange for acting on her complaint against a man who allegedly cut fodder from her field, uprooted boundary pillars and threatened her.Sangeeta, a resident of Azad Nagar locality, levelled the allegations before the superintendent of police during Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas on Saturday. She alleged that despite accepting money from her, the constable failed to visit the spot.According to her complaint, a youth allegedly entered her field in Gram Karmullapur on Sept 14, cut the standing fodder crop and uprooted boundary pillars. When she objected, he allegedly abused her and threatened to kill her.Sangeeta alleged that constable Narendra Singh, posted at a local police outpost, took Rs 1,000 in cash on the promise of settling the matter and taking action against the accused.She further alleged that later the same day, the constable asked her to transfer Rs 640 to his account through UPI to buy four beers.Sangeeta said she paid the money out of fear and in the hope of securing police action, but no police personnel visited the spot even after receiving the payment.Superintendent of police Vinod Kumar said the matter had been assigned to Chhibramau circle officer Mayank Mishra for investigation.“If the allegations are found to be true, strict action will be taken against the guilty constable,” the SP said.
