Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said the govt has decided to revive the Pranahita Chevella project with Tummidihatti as the intake point and assured the people of the combined Adilabad district to give water for irrigation purposes by completing the project, and transform the region.Addressing a public meeting at Pippiri in the Boath constituency, Revanth showered sops on Adilabad, complete all pending irrigation projects, lay foundation for a new airport, if possible, before June 2, establish one of the largest industrial parks, set up a university, develop Basara Saraswati Temple and Gudem Satyanarayana Temple and develop the region as a hub of industries, educational institutions and tourism by 2034.“We will transform the Adilabad region into a thriving industrial hub. The govt has also initiated the land acquisition process for establishing a university in Adilabad. We will soon perform the ground-breaking ceremony for the university. We have sanctioned 225 crore for the development of the Saraswathi Temple. If necessary, we will sanction additional funds to ensure the comprehensive development of the temple. At the request of Mancherial MLA K Prem Sagar Rao, Gudem Satyanarayana Swamy Temple will also be developed,” the CM added. He assured the people that estimates were being prepared regarding the specific requirements of Adilabad district. He promised to visit the district every two months and sanction required funds. In a counter to BRS allegations on land diversion of Koheda fruit market, the CM asked why the previous BRS govt did not develop such markets during their tenure. They did not do any such development in 10 years and were now trying to mislead the people, who have rejected their ‘gadi palana’ (rule from palace). The CM exuded confidence that Congress would retain power and extend welfare and development till 2034. “We will do politics only during the elections, and thereafter development is our agenda. We invited opposition leaders (BJP MP and MLAs from Adilabad district) to the public meeting and allowed them to speak and place their demands. Telangana did not witness such a tradition in the past 10 years of BRS govt when opposition leaders were arrested before such public meetings. The tradition we have started must be continued,” he said. He told BJP leaders that a judicial commission would be constituted to look into reorganisation of revenue divisions and mandals after the Centre lifts freeze on geographical boundaries in April 2027.Earlier, Revanth Reddy, along with deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers, laid the foundation for redevelopment of Basara Saraswati Temple. Also, Revanth, along with his wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandson, offered prayers at the temple, and performed ‘Aksharabhyasam’ of his grandson. The CM also laid the foundation and inaugurated various works worth 1,230 crore.
