Kanpur: Waterlogging up to three feet deep for nearly a week has affected around 800 houses and more than 20,000 residents in Makdi Kheda, Balajipuram and Gupta Society along Mainawati Marg in Kanpur. Many families remain confined to their homes, while residents have been forced to wade through dirty water for essential work. Children have stopped attending school, and several residents said they were unable to leave their homes even for urgent needs.Residents alleged that water was being pumped out from one side of the affected localities and discharged onto the road, leading to flooding on Mainawati Marg. Potholes have further made the waterlogged stretch difficult and risky to cross.According to residents, only one pump has been deployed to drain the accumulated water. Though officials visited the area and inspected the situation, they said no effective solution had followed. With waterlogging persisting for days, residents have demanded urgent action to drain the affected localities and restore normal movement.
