Kanpur: A wedding procession returned without the ceremony being completed in Etawah after the bride showed the prospective groom a photo of the man she loved and told him she was being forced into the marriage against her wishes. The groom decided not to go ahead with the marriage.The wedding procession had traveled from a locality in the Achhalda police station area of Auraiya to a hotel located near ITI Chauraha on Mainpuri Road in the Friends Colony area of Etawah on Tuesday evening. The bride’s family hails from Panki area of Kanpur Nagar. After the groom and bride reached the stage and exchanged garlands, the bride began to cry and showed the groom the picture of a man on her mobile phone, saying she loved him and wished to marry him. She said the marriage had been arranged under familial pressure and against her desire.The groom decided not to proceed with the marriage and to return without complaint. He facilitated a video call between the bride and her lover, which clarified the situation.On receiving information, police arrived at the scene and discussions were held between both parties in their presence. A dialogue ensued, resulting in mutual dissolution of the arrangement. An agreement was reached concerning wedding expenses and transactions, leading to the decision to terminate the alliance.Following the resolution, the wedding procession returned without conflict and the marriage did not take place.Friends Colony police station in charge Amit Mishra said both sides resolved the matter by mutual consent and no written complaint was registered by either side, therefore, no legal action was taken.
