Patna: With several rivers overflowing in the district, water entered around 50 homes in at least two panchayat areas, prompting people to leave their houses for safer places. Even as the water levels of Mahatmayin and Dhova rivers have started receding, it entered around 20-30 houses at Musahari Gopal Tola in Singariawan panchayat of Daniawan block in the district.Patna City subdivisional officer Satyam Sahay conducted an inspection of Daniawan and Fatuha blocks, along with the additional collector (disaster) of the disaster management department, D P Sahi, on the directives of DM Thiyagarajan S M. A community kitchen has been providing morning and evening meals to 50 to 60 affected individuals daily. As many as 50 polythene sheets have been distributed by the circle officer of Daniyawan to the victims in the area.In Chhoti Kawai of Shahjahanpur panchayat, water entered 20 to 25 mahadalit homes, where dry ration packets were distributed.Meanwhile, a leakage was identified in an embankment at Masnadpur village in Shahjahanpur panchayat. The breach is being filled with sandbags and soil. In Sripatpur panchayat of Fatuha block, increased pressure from Dhova river on the Zamindari embankment was observed. Sahay said that the Flood Control Division, Punpun, is undertaking anti-erosion work to mitigate the threat, and that the situation is currently under control. “Efforts have also been made to restore connectivity in Mominpur village, where a rural road had been eroded two days ago. The road has now been made motorable again by filling it with bricks, rubble, sand and sandbags,” he said. At Harinagar in Horil bigha panchayat as well, difficulties in transportation due to waterlogging were reported, prompting the commencement of boat operations. Additionally, 150 dry ration packets were distributed to the victims in the locality.
