BENGALURU: Commuters in Bengaluru witnessed an unusual sight on Saturday when a Mahindra Thar was seen towing a broken-down BMTC bus through city roads, with videos of the incident quickly going viral on social media. The incident took place after an electric bus from the Kalyan Nagar depot developed a technical snag and came to a halt. With traffic building up and the arrival of a recovery vehicle expected to take time, the SUV was used to tow the bus to the nearest depot.Videos circulating online showed motorists slowing down to watch the unlikely pairing of the relatively small off-roader pulling the much larger public transport vehicle. The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation later clarified that the electric bus had suffered only a minor technical issue.“To avoid traffic congestion and restore smooth traffic movement, the bus was towed to the nearest depot,” BMTC said. The corporation added that the fault was rectified soon after the bus reached the depot.Following repairs and inspection, the vehicle was declared roadworthy and pressed back into service later the same day.
