AZAMGARH: Uttar Pradesh Police has launched an inquiry after a viral video purportedly showed a police cop watching social media reels during a Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas public grievance meeting at the Sadar tehsil in Azamgarh.The video purportedly shows the policeman with earphones while a mobile phone was hidden inside his police cap, with reels playing during the official programme.In a statement posted on X, the Azamgarh Police said the incident, which falls under the Kotwali police station area, has been taken cognisance of and an inquiry is underway.“The matter is being investigated. Necessary action will be taken as per rules based on the findings of the inquiry,” the police said.City Circle Officer Shubham Todi also said appropriate departmental action would follow if the allegations are found to be true.The viral clip has triggered criticism on social media, with users questioning the policeman’s conduct during an official public grievance redressal programme.
