Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has taken closure action against 13 food units for food-safety violations, while penalties totalling Rs 74,000 have been imposed in four cases.This came after inspections were made by food safety teams. In the West Zone, Pratham Bakery, Dhruvanshi Pan Parlour, Swagat Sweet Corner and Amritsari Kulcha faced action for violations ranging from unhygienic conditions and operating without a licence/registration to use or disposal of food items not conforming to safety rules.In the North Zone, action was taken against Dehraduni Biryani, Avon Bombay Biryani, New Bombay Rasoiya and Zamzam Caterers.In the South Zone, Dawat Restaurant and Bansal Food were shut after inspections found food-safety and hygiene violations. In the East Zone, similar action was taken against Shri Jagdish Farsan, Jay Bharat Farsan Mart and Jay Shraddha Sev Usal.The civic body said penalties of Rs 34,000 against Akshar Enterprises, Rs 20,000 against Shri Janata Ice Cream and Juice and Rs 15,000 against Anamika Enterprises, besides a combined Rs 5,000 in other cases, have been recovered after court proceedings. Action in other cases is underway.VMC warned that food units closed for violations can reopen only after completing the prescribed compliance process and inspection. Reopening a closed unit without permission could invite further action, including proceedings related to its FSSAI licence or registration.
