Times News NetworkChandigarh: Chandigarh Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has brought a woman accused of running a fake visa racket to the city on a production warrant from Patiala jail.The accused, Ritu, along with her husband Vivek, allegedly operated an immigration firm, Sky Vision, on VIP Road in Zirakpur and cheated people of crores by promising overseas visas. Several fraud cases were registered against the couple in 2024 in Maharashtra, Zirakpur and Chandigarh.According to police, Vivek even got a fake visa pasted on his own passport to flee abroad. He allegedly transferred money collected from victims into the bank accounts of his wife and their six-year-old son. Following this, Ritu was named in FIRs registered in different states.In one Zirakpur case, police traced the couple to a hotel in Nainital. Vivek managed to escape, while Ritu was arrested and later sent to Patiala jail. Ludhiana Police had earlier taken her on a production warrant in connection with an Rs 18 lakh fraud case.Chandigarh Police said both Vivek and Ritu had been declared fugitives in a local case.
