Kanpur: Quick-thinking villagers came to the rescue of two youths after they were swept away with their motorcycle while crossing the swollen Doonar river on the Jaitpur-Kudhai Mahobakanth road in Mahoba following heavy rain. Sarman Anuragi and Sanjay Anuragi managed to reach the shore safely, while villagers pulled them to safety and secured their submerged motorcycle with a thick rope tied to an iron angle on the bridge, preventing it from being washed away.Mahoba police said on X that local people rescued both riders after their motorcycle was swept away. Both were safe, and a police team reached the spot and undertook security, relief and rescue measures.The bridge is on the main route connecting about 25 to 30 villages, including Jaitpur, Kudhai, Thurat and Chhitarwara. A crowd gathered after the incident, and villagers sought help from the Public Works Department (PWD) and district administration.Thurat villagers protested against the administration and demanded that an elevated permanent bridge be built immediately instead of waiting for a major accident.
