A search at Dr Kamini Prasad’s residence in Patna led to the recovery of Rs 15 lakh in cash, bank deposits and jewellery

Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Friday arrested two employees of a primary health centre (PHC) in Vaishali district for allegedly demanding Rs 8,600 to clear Rs 1.29 lakh in pending payments to a community health officer.The accused are Dr Kamini Prasad, in-charge medical officer at Patedhi Belsar PHC, and data entry operator Himanshu Kumar. They were arrested while allegedly accepting the bribe at the PHC.A search at Dr Prasad’s residence in Kankarbagh Colony, Patna, led to the recovery of Rs 15 lakh in cash, bank deposits of Rs 99 lakh, gold and silver jewellery and insurance policies.The complaint was filed by Jaipal Singh, a community health officer posted at Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Patedhi Belsar, who alleged the duo demanded money to release pending incentives and mobile recharge and transport allowances. The total dues amounted to Rs 1,29,800.VIB director general J S Gangwar said a trap team led by deputy superintendent of police Basudev Rai arrested the accused after verifying the complaint. A case was registered on Oct 8.The accused will be produced before the Special Vigilance Court in Muzaffarpur after interrogation. Further investigation is underway.The arrest marks the bureau’s 119th corruption case in Bihar in 2026. It has registered 109 trap cases this year, arresting 110 accused and recovering Rs 38,17,400 in alleged bribe money.
