Mohali: A vendor dressed in Nihang attire allegedly threatened municipal corporation officials during an anti-encroachment drive in Phase 3B2, with the entire confrontation being captured on video.The incident reportedly occurred when an MC team attempted to remove a street cart and seize goods placed on a public road as part of a late-night enforcement drive. In the video, the vendor can allegedly be heard warning officials that anyone touching his goods would have their hand chopped off.The confrontation took place in the presence of police personnel, raising concerns about the safety of civic staff engaged in anti-encroachment operations.SP (investigation) Saurav Jindal said police had taken note of the video and would act accordingly. “We are examining the video and will take suo motu cognisance of the threat and initiate action as per law,” he said.Municipal officials said resistance during anti-encroachment drives has become a recurring challenge. The latest incident has once again highlighted the difficulties faced by enforcement teams while clearing unauthorised encroachments from roads and public spaces.
