Vadodara: Vadodara-based sculptor Prithwiraj Mali has earned international recognition after being selected as the only artist from India for a prestigious global ceramics symposium-cum-residency in the Netherlands.According to organizers, Mali will participate in “A World of Ceramics – Common Ground”, an international exhibition marking 40 years of Galerie Terra Delft. The exhibition will be held at the historic Oude Kerk in Delft from May 23 to July 4, 2026, featuring artists from five continents.Officials said only eight artists have been invited globally, representing Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America, and Oceania. Mali is the sole representative from India and among the few who will create work on-site as part of the residency.Mali has been preparing for the showcase for the past six months at his Vadodara studio. Part of his work will be completed in India, while the remaining will be executed in the Netherlands, where he will spend nearly two months refining and completing the installations.As per organizers, Mali will be in Delft, Netherlands, from April 7 to May 23, where he will work at the Appel & Peer Studio. Along with other international artists, he will spend nearly six weeks developing large-scale ceramic installations for the exhibition.The exhibition, themed “Common Ground”, explores clay as a universal medium connecting cultures. Through immersive installations, artists will address contemporary global concerns such as climate change, conflict and migration, while highlighting shared human experiences.Organized by Galerie Terra Delft in collaboration with Stichting Keramiek Promotie Delft, the event is considered a significant platform in contemporary ceramics.
