Gurgaon: Vacant plots earmarked for nursing homes in Sector 41 have become dumping grounds after remaining unused for years, with residents flagging regular disposal of household waste, construction debris and other garbage.One plot spans more than an acre. While the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has carried out demarcation of the land, residents alleged that the plots have not been put to their intended use.Dinesh Chalia, RWA president of Sector 41, said, “After demarcation, there are still points from where people enter and dump waste. Residents of the adjoining village and others bring household waste and construction debris and leave it here.”Residents said the problem has worsened because the vacant land is also used to park garbage-collection trolleys. “The problem is not limited to construction debris. Household waste is also dumped here. We repeatedly have to approach the civic body for cleaning, and as soon as the area is cleared, dumping starts again,” Chalia said.Another vacant pocket in the area, where authorities carved out new plots a few years ago, is also facing similar problems, residents said. They alleged that construction waste and other debris are brought from outside the sector and dumped there.J M Singh, RWA vice-president, said the lack of regular monitoring made the vacant land difficult to manage. “Once a plot is left vacant and there is no regular monitoring, it becomes difficult to know who is entering the area and what activities are taking place there. We have written to HSVP and MCG several times, but there has been no sustained action. At one point, we had to spend money ourselves to get the area levelled and cleaned,” he said.Meanwhile, an HSVP official said they would look into the matter and the needful would be done to address the issue.
