Gurgaon: A family returning to its house in Pataudi’s Jatauli early Friday with the body of one of its members, who had died during treatment in Jaipur, was confronted with another shock when they found the house burgled. Gold and silver jewellery and nearly Rs 1.1 lakh in cash were missing.According to a complaint filed by Jogender Singh, his wife Jyotsna suffered a heart attack on Sept 9 and was admitted to Mars Hospital in Rewari. Jogender and their son Saurav later took her to SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where she died during treatment.The family returned home around 5am on Sept 11 with Jyotsna’s body. They found the lock on the main gate broken. The locks of rooms inside the house had also been damaged and household articles were scattered, according to the complaint.After cremation, the family checked the belongings and found gold jewellery missing from drawers of a wooden almirah. The stolen jewellery included a mangalsutra, maang tikka, chain, necklace, four bangles, two rings and a pair of earrings. The complainant estimated the total weight of the 22-carat jewellery at 147.25 grams. Two pairs of silver anklets were also missing.The thieves also took cash kept in two almirahs. The complaint lists Rs 50,000 in Rs 500 notes; Rs 40,000 in Rs 100 notes; Rs 20,000 in Rs 200 notes; Rs 2,000 in Rs 20 notes; and Rs 1,400 in Rs 10 notes. Two Nepalese Rs 10 notes were also missing. The total Indian currency stolen was Rs 1.13 lakh.A case has been registered at Pataudi police station under sections 305 (theft) and 331(4) (house-trespass or house-breaking) of BNS. “A team from Heli Mandi police post has undertaken an investigation. We are also arranging a fingerprint team and dog squad at the crime scene,” police said.
