TNNChandigarh: The Chandigarh administration has notified 15 days of the calendar year when it is permitted to use loudspeakers and public address systems between 10pm and 12 midnight.The notification, issued by UT secretary, environment, Mandip Singh Brar, reads, “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (h) of Rule 2 read with sub-rule (3) of Rule 5 of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, hereby notifies the days for the calendar year 2026 as specified, on which the use of loudspeaker or public address system during the night hours between 10:00pm to 12:00 midnight is permitted.“The notified days are the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh (as announced by the govt of Punjab), Republic Day (Jan 26), Maha Shivratri (Feb 15), Ram Navami (March 26), Vaisakhi (April 14), Id-ul-Zuha (May 27), Muharram (June 26), Independence Day (Aug 15), Janmashtami (Sept 4), Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday (Oct 2), Maharaj Agarsain Jayanti (Oct 11), Maharishi Valmiki’s birthday (Oct 26), Diwali (Nov 8), Christmas (Dec 25), and New Year’s Eve celebrations (Dec 31).
