Srinagar, Sept 6: The Urological Society of Kashmir (USK) was formally launched yesterday in Srinagar, marking a significant milestone in the growth of urology and bringing together the region’s urological fraternity on a common professional and academic platform.
Dr Syed Javid Qadri, eminent Urologist of the Valley, Founding President of the Urological Society of Kashmir, described the launch as the fulfilment of a long-cherished vision of bringing the urologists of Kashmir together under one professional umbrella.
He said the formation of USK reflects the rapid growth of urology in the region and the need for a dedicated platform to promote excellence in patient care, academic advancement, research and professional development.
The launch ceremony was graced by Dr Kamaljeet Singh, President, North Zone Urological Society of India (NZ-USI), as the Chief Guest. Prof. Ghulam Jeelani, Prof. Muneer Khan and Prof. M. Saleem Wani, the senior urologists of the valley, were the Guests of Honour.
Dr Qadri said the society would strive to create meaningful opportunities for continuing medical education, scientific exchange, research, skills development and collaboration, while giving special encouragement to young urologists and trainees.
He emphasised that the strength of the society would lie in the collective experience of senior specialists, the energy and aspirations of young urologists, and the spirit of collaboration within the medical fraternity
The launch also highlighted the strong bond between the newly established USK and the North Zone Urological Society of India, with senior members of the urological community extending their support and guidance to the new society.
The ceremony was attended by senior urologists, young consultants, trainees and members of the medical fraternity. The gathering reflected the growing strength of urology in Kashmir and the collective enthusiasm to take the specialty forward.
The establishment of the Urological Society of Kashmiris expected to provide a unified voice and platform for the region’s urologists while contributing to the further advancement of specialised urological services in Jammu and Kashmir.
