Kanpur: The UP Veterans Cricket Association (UPVCA), at its 28th Annual General Meeting held here on Sunday, unanimously elected I.M. Rohatgi as president, Girish Kapoor as secretary and Vijay Dixit as treasurer.Addressing members, Rohatgi said six new districts had been granted affiliation and would now participate in the association’s activities. The newly affiliated districts are Jhansi, Mau, Muzaffarnagar, Jalaun, Etawah and Sambhal.He also announced that the association’s prestigious Dr Gaur Hari Singhania UP Inter-District T20 Cricket League would be held from Oct 4, 2026, to Jan 24, 2027.Rohatgi said the winning team would receive a prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the runners-up would get Rs 50,000.Association secretary Girish Kapoor said the league would be played across four zones, each comprising two pools. All participating teams have been accommodated in their nearest zones. He added that all newly affiliated districts would take part in the tournament.Following the league, the association will organise the JK Max Rama Mishra Challenger Trophy in March 2027. Four teams will participate in the tournament, with players to be selected during the league.Former Test cricketer Gopal Sharma will oversee the player selection process during the league.
