Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is likely to introduce four new Volvo buses between Prayagraj and Delhi. The proposal, sent by the Prayagraj region to the corporation’s headquarters, is awaiting final approval and is expected to receive the approval shortly.If approved, the induction of the premium buses will significantly improve long-distance travel between the two cities, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable journey. The move comes in response to the growing demand for quality inter-city transport, particularly during the festive season when thousands of people travel between Delhi and Prayagraj.At present, the Prayagraj region operates only one contracted Volvo bus on the Lucknow route, leaving passengers travelling to Delhi with limited premium travel options. The proposed addition of four Volvo buses is expected to bridge this gap and provide direct high-end bus services on one of the region’s busiest long-distance routes.Officials said the buses will be equipped with modern passenger amenities aimed at ensuring a comfortable journey and reducing travel fatigue. Besides offering improved seating and onboard facilities, the buses are expected to help save travel time for passengers who prefer road travel.Regional Manager UPSRTC, Ravindra Kumar Singh said the proposal for four new Volvo buses has already been forwarded to the UPSRTC headquarters. He expressed hope that the buses would be allotted to the Prayagraj region soon after Raksha Bandhan.The transport corporation has accelerated preparations keeping in view the heavy passenger rush witnessed during festivals. Once inducted, the new buses are expected to enhance the quality of road transport services from Prayagraj, while providing passengers with a premium, reliable and more comfortable travel option to the national capital.= = = =
