Jaipur: State Assembly witnessed noisy scenes Monday after deputy Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress MLA Ramkesh Meena made remarks about the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).Meena alleged that the RSS was creating obstacles in the govt education system. “We have a medium of govt education (in the country), and the RSS is creating obstacles in that medium,” he said, sparking immediate uproar in the House. The presiding officer, Phool Singh Meena, intervened as members from the ruling side objected strongly to the remarks. Ministers Avinash Gehlot and Jogaram Kumawat countered Meena’s statements, leading to a heated exchange between the Opposition and treasury benches. Gehlot hit back at the Congress, saying that the RSS would prove to be the “final nail in the coffin” of the party.Meena alleged a conspiracy to weaken govt schools and deprive students of quality education. “Sir, there is a conspiracy to deprive students of education, and today there is a ploy to weaken and eliminate govt schools. I asked the education minister of our state (Madan Dilawar) the other day what issue they have with Mahatma Gandhi English medium schools. The problem is that children from poor, Dalit, and Adivasi communities study there,” he said.Meena also questioned the historical role of the RSS, stating that it was founded in 1925 but he could challnege the ruling party to name even four RSS leaders who participated in the country’s freedom struggle.
