JAIPUR: Two sisters, both brides-to-be, died hours before their wedding in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on Saturday. The deceased, Shobha (25) and Vimla (23), were residents of Manai village. Both taught at a private school. ADCP (West) Roshan Meena said wedding celebrations had continued at their house until late Friday. Around midnight, both sisters went to their room to sleep. Their health deteriorated suddenly around 4am, and family members rushed them to a private hospital in Jodhpur, where they were declared dead. The family brought the bodies back home and began preparing for the last rites without a postmortem. On receiving this information, police reached the spot around 6am, stopped the cremation, and sent the bodies to MGH mortuary for autopsy. The remains were later handed over to the family. A preliminary investigation suggested that the duo may have ingested a poisonous substance. Police were awaiting the postmortem report to nail the exact cause of death. No suicide note had been recovered till late on Saturday.
