Noida: The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is operating 180 buses round the clock across Noida to manage the Holi rush.Assistant regional manager of UPSRTC’s Noida depot SN Pandey said around 800 employees, including drivers and conductors, have been deployed for the festive period. The depot, which typically caters to about 35,000 passengers a day, is expecting footfall to rise to nearly 40,000 during Holi. A helpline (0120-2507864) has also been issued to assist passengers. Meanwhile, ARTO (Enforcement) Udit Narayan Pandey has also directed drivers to strictly avoid over-speeding and ensure mandatory use of seat belts during operations.UPSRTC regional manager for Ghaziabad Kesri Nandan said similar measures have been implemented in the city to manage the festive rush. “We have 1,092 buses operating from depots in Ghaziabad. To meet the increased demand, we have added 300 additional trips. The buses will operate during both day and night hours after ensuring a sufficient cooling period,” he said. A large number of passengers travel from Ghaziabad to cities such as Meerut, Sambhal, Sitapur and Hapur. The additional trips will remain in effect for 10 days, from Feb 28 to March 9. Drivers and conductors assigned to these extra services will be given an incentive of Rs 4,000, he said.
