Lucknow: A panel of public health experts on Friday endorsed a roadmap for institutional reforms aimed at strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s public health system, with the proposed State Health Systems Resource Centre-Uttar Pradesh (SHSRC-UP) set to function as a permanent technical institution supporting evidence-based policymaking and health system reforms.The recommendations emerged at the conclusion of a two-day roundtable organised by the department of hospital administration at SGPGIMS in collaboration with the State Transformation Commission. The deliberations focused on translating the gaps identified during the first day’s discussions into an implementation strategy for the proposed resource centre.The panel identified non-communicable diseases, digital health, quality improvement, patient safety, human resource development and inter-sectoral collaboration as priority areas for SHSRC-UP. Participants said the centre should provide an evidence-based framework to support health policymaking, programme implementation and the continuous strengthening of the state’s public health system.Discussions also focused on district-level implementation, real-time monitoring systems, capacity building of frontline health personnel, and the integration of SHSRC-UP with flagship programmes such as the National Health Mission and Ayushman Bharat.
