Chandigarh: The Punjab govt has granted extension to students for obtaining and updating digitised birth certificates on the Unified Student Registration Portal for the 2026-27 academic session. The move aims to ease the digital registration process and ensure no student is denied admission due to documentation delays.Education minister Harjot Singh Bains said Class VIII students, who do not possess a digitised birth certificate, have been given time till Oct 30 to obtain the document and update it on the portal. Similarly, students of classes IX and X have been granted time till the registration process for the next academic session to complete necessary corrections and updates. Bains said the decision reflects CM Mann- led state govt’s commitment to streamlining the digital transformation of school education while ensuring that no student is left behind due to procedural hurdles.
