Prayagraj: More than 50 lakh students appearing for the UP Board Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2027 will have their signatures printed on their admit cards for the first time, in a move aimed at preventing impersonation and making the exams more transparent and cheating-free. The board is collecting students’ signatures along with their photographs during the ongoing online registration process for the 2026-27 academic session.The signature on the admit card will later be matched with those made by students on their answer sheets and attendance registers during the examination. Officials said the measure is intended to ensure that only the genuine candidate registered for the examination appears at the centre.

In previous years, several cases emerged in which solvers were allegedly made to appear in examinations in place of registered candidates. Officials said some private school operators, allegedly working with cheating mafias, used photo-mixing techniques to facilitate the entry of solvers into examination centres. FIRs were registered in several districts against alleged cheating mafias and solvers in such cases.To prevent such practices in the 2027 board examinations, the UP Board has begun preparations well in advance. The process of registering Class 10 and 12 students is currently underway and is scheduled to continue until Aug 5.The board has also issued a schedule for forwarding application forms of private candidates appearing in the High School and Intermediate examinations. Principals of forwarding centres will receive the applications and examination fees from candidates until Aug 5.The last date for depositing the examination fee in the treasury through a single challan is Aug 10. After this deadline, candidates can deposit the fee with a late charge of Rs 100 per student until Aug 16.“Principals will be required to upload details of the examination fee and students’ educational information on the UP Board website by midnight on Aug 16,” said Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh. They will also have to submit the photograph-based list of registered students and a copy of the treasury sheet by Sept 30, he added.
