Prayagraj: Mechanical engineering students of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) would be studying a revamped undergraduate curriculum from the 2026-27 academic session, blending core mechanical engineering with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). This is being done to improve students’ career prospects and align their skills with evolving industrial requirements. The new curriculum has been developed following the successful implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to equip students with both fundamental mechanical engineering expertise and emerging technology skills. The department has also decided that from the new academic session, it will offer a bachelor’s degree specifically in mechanical engineering under the revamped programme. The curriculum was prepared over the past six months and has been approved by the institute’s Senate for implementation from 2026-27.Alongside the academic changes, the department has prepared a plan to provide students with enhanced practical training and exposure to industry-oriented applications.
