Prayagraj: The UP Board has eased the recognition process for private unaided schools by amending several regulations and relaxing land, ownership and application norms.UP Board secretary Bhagwati Singh said the amendments were introduced on the directions of state govt to make it easier for new schools to obtain recognition.Under the revised provisions, schools in urban areas will require at least 3,000 square metre of land, including a 1,000 square metre playground. The playground may be located up to 200 metre from the school campus.In rural areas, schools will require at least 6,000 square metre of land, including a 2,000 square metre playground.The online recognition portal will now remain open throughout the year, allowing institutions to apply at their convenience instead of within a limited window.The eligibility criteria have also been widened. Apart from registered societies, trusts and non-profit companies, statutory bodies, autonomous organisations, public sector undertakings and local bodies can now apply to establish recognised schools.Schools operating on land secured through a registered lease deed valid for at least 30 years will also be eligible for recognition.The provision requiring payment of a Rs 20,000 late fee has been scrapped.Singh said district inspectors of schools would be required to submit their reports and recommendations by Aug 20.In another major relaxation, schools recognised before Dec 26, 2022, that seek approval for additional classes or subjects will need to provide only the additional classrooms and laboratories required. Several other conditions applicable to such schools have also been relaxed, further simplifying the process.
