Prayagraj: Ahead of the holy month of Shravan and the Kanwar yatra, police and district administration officials on Wednesday inspected Dashashwamedh Ghat, Mankameshwar Temple and key kanwar routes, directing departments to make comprehensive arrangements for the safety and convenience of pilgrims.District magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, police commissioner Jogendra Kumar and additional police commissioner Ajay Pal Sharma reviewed the preparations and issued instructions to officials.The police commissioner directed officials to install CCTV cameras at the police outpost at Dashashwamedh Ghat and make arrangements for drone surveillance. He also called for a public address system to broadcast safety advisories and alerts, besides adequate deployment of personnel at ghats and along Kanwar routes.Deputy commissioners of police were asked to inspect temples and kanwar routes in their respective areas and coordinate with other departments. The traffic DCP was directed to finalise parking and diversion plans to minimise inconvenience to kanwariyas.The DM instructed officials to ensure cleanliness, drinking water, lighting, parking, mobile toilets, changing rooms, barricades and healthcare facilities at Dashashwamedh Ghat. He also ordered the deployment of generators, divers, water police and women personnel, as well as barricading of deep-water zones.Officials were told to install signage and maintain cleanliness near the steps below Shastri Bridge, besides inspecting the Andawa-Handia Kanwar route.The administration also ordered the repair of potholes and removal of waterlogging and other obstructions. Health teams, ambulances and medicines will be stationed along the routes and at major Shiva temples.
