Patna: The recovery of an unidentified man’s body from the Secretariat police station area in Patna on Thursday morning has sparked a mystery, with police suspecting that the body may have been dumped at the spot after the death occurred elsewhere. The body was found near the Hardinge Road Overbridge, the area housing the residences of several ministers, legislators and senior government officials.According to police, the deceased appeared to be around 45 years old and had injury marks on his face. Blood was also found oozing from his nose. His identity is yet to be established.After receiving information, personnel from the Secretariat police station rushed to the spot. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to collect scientific evidence, while Secretariat DSP Anu Kumari inspected the spot and supervised the investigation.Police are examining whether the body was brought to the location and dumped there. However, the exact sequence of events and the cause of death remain unclear.Speaking to reporters, DSP Anu Kumari said efforts were underway to identify the deceased. “Prima facie, the man appears to be around 45 years old. The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem and forensic analysis,” she said, adding that further details would emerge after technical evidence and human intelligence inputs were analysed.Secretariat SHO Gautam Kumar said, “Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to determine how the man died.”
