Dibrugarh: A cadre of the proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (Ulfa-I) surrendered before Assam Rifles at Pangsau Pass, along the India-Myanmar border, in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, officials said.The cadre was identified as Dilip Asom alias Kamal Sarania, 23, son of Prasanna Sarania of Simla village, under Simla police station, in Assam’s Baksa district.Officials said Sarania had been staying at the Ulfa-I’s Waktham camp in Myanmar. He left the camp, travelled towards the border and surrendered at Pangsau Pass.Security personnel recovered 20,000 Myanmar kyat from his possession. Following his surrender, Sarania was handed over to Assam Police at Lekhapani police station in Tinsukia district.Located in Changlang district, Pangsau Pass is an important crossing point on the India-Myanmar frontier and remains under close security surveillance.
