Udupi: A trainee pilot from Udupi district, Abhishek Pujari, was among two pilots killed after a twin-engine training aircraft crashed near the Ganga Barrage in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh,Thursday.The four-seater aircraft operated by Garg Aviation Training Centre crashed in a field near Nathupurwa village while returning to its training facility. The aircraft took off around 11.30am and crashed about 20 minutes later.Kanpur police identified the deceased as instructor Sachin Bhatia, resident of Gujarat, and trainee pilot Abhishek Pujari from Karnataka.According to Udupi police, Abhishek, originally from Kadeberke in Kanajaru village within Hiriyadka police limits in Udupi district, had been undergoing pilot training in Kanpur for the past two-and-a-half years.His father, Prabhakar Poojary, and mother, Shashikala Poojary, reside in Mumbai. Abhishek would visit his maternal uncle Jeevan Kumar’s residence at Kadeberke with his family from time to time.Family members have travelled to Kanpur following the incident to complete the formalities. Further legal procedures are under way.
