Berhampur: Two brothers were arrested in Ganjam district on Sunday for allegedly sexually assaulting their two minor nieces, aged 17 and 14. The accused, aged 44 and 30, are the brothers of the girls’ father, police said. According to police, the girls alleged that they had been subjected to sexual abuse by their uncles for several years. Owing to social stigma and fear, they did not report the incidents earlier. They eventually approached police when they could no longer endure the alleged abuse. Medical examinations of both the victims and the accused have been conducted, police said. Investigators have seized biological samples and clothing of the victims and the accused for forensic examination.
