Nagpur: Twin murders within a 60-minute span in different parts of city on Thursday, left police on high alert. In Hanuman Nagar near Bhandewadi plot, a notorious criminal, Ganesh Borkar, was intercepted near his home by three masked assailants and murdered.As per police sources, the assailants were waiting in ambush near a grocery shop. As Borkar came close, one of them sprinkled chili powder on his face, blinding him temporarily. The other two then pounced on him, stabbing him multiple times. He collapsed with severe stab wounds and died on the spot. The goon was released from prison last year after he assaulted his wife, Manisha, and tried to kill her.Police have detained his wife, Manisha Borkar, suspecting her role in the contract killing. Manisha is allegedly involved in bootlegging and is based in Kanhan. The couple lived separately, with Borkar staying in Hanuman Nagar.Crime branch officials are investigating the case, probing possible links to underworld rivalries or personal enmity. The method of attack, involving chili powder to disorient the victim, points to a premeditated plan. Teams are scanning CCTV footage and relying on local intelligence to track the contract killers.In a parallel incident in Nagpur outskirts, a body of 36-year-old Bhagyashree Vinod Rajak was found on the roadside on Gada-Lihigaon on Ajani Gaon Road on Thursday in New Kamptee police limits. The body bore multiple stab injuries.Police suspect her live-in partner, Rajesh Kothrunge from Pasheoni, who runs a coal retail business, stabbed her to death during a heated argument. Bhagyashree, who worked at a super speciality hospital, had left her first husband and two children to live with Kothrunge. Frequent fights erupted between them due to his jealous and suspicious nature.On Thursday, Kothrunge allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon, inflicting multiple stab wounds. The victim was identified by her daughter at the crime scene. The New Kamptee police have registered a case and launched a search for Kothrunge, who is on the run. Officers are examining local leads and CCTV to trace the accused.
