Nagpur: Maharashtra minister of state Ashish Jaiswal on Wednesday assured the Assembly the state govt would not allow a fresh development backlog to emerge in Vidarbha and said close monitoring would be undertaken to ensure implementation of every assurance made in the House.Replying to issues raised during a half-hour discussion initiated by BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar, Jaiswal said the govt would remain vigilant to ensure no new regional development imbalance surfaced in Vidarbha, Marathwada or rest of Maharashtra until statutory development boards were established.He said directives would be issued to regularly place before the House the detailed data on region-wise budgetary allocations and actual expenditure.“Statutory development boards are not only for Vidarbha but for ensuring justice to backward regions across Marathwada, rest of Maharashtra. Balanced development is govt’s responsibility, no region will be deprived of growth,” Jaiswal said.The minister said data regarding backlog in govt jobs in Vidarbha and Marathwada would be compiled and corrective measures undertaken. “Vacant posts in Naxal-affected regions would not be allowed to remain unfilled for long periods,” Jaiswal said, adding the govt would consider a Naxal allowance and priority postings in Vidarbha for newly recruited employees if required.Jaiswal asserted that under the leadership of CM Devendra Fadnavis, Vidarbha was witnessing progress in infrastructure, industry and investments, and assured the govt would continue efforts to ensure the region did not face another development backlog in the future.
