Darbhanga: Additional aistrict and sessions Judge-XI Ranjan Kumar Mishra of the Darbhanga civil court on Monday sentenced two men to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 on each for the murder of a villager over a dispute related to plucking mangoes.The convicts, Ashraf Nadaf and Mohd Akbar Nadaf, residents of Bajitpur village under Manigachhi police station, were found guilty of killing Mohd Salauddin, a resident of the same village, with an iron rod on June 2, 2021. Following the incident, Faqiruddin Nadaf, the victim’s brother, lodged an FIR against 13 persons at Manigachhi police station.According to additional public prosecutor Arun Kumar Singh, the court awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40,000 each under Section 302/149 of the IPC. The duo was also sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment and fined Rs 30,000 each under Section 307, and two years’ imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000 each under Section 324. They were awarded varying terms of imprisonment under other sections as well.Charges were framed against the accused on December 17, 2021. The prosecution examined six witnesses, including a doctor. Both accused were convicted on July 14 this year. The court ordered that all sentences would run concurrently. The convicts have been in judicial custody since June 6, 2021.
