Times News NetworkKanpur: Two young men, riding a motorcycle, were crushed by a speeding dumper loaded with sand in the Kotra police station area of Jalaun district late Thursday. Two of the youths died on the spot, while one was seriously injured. After primary treatment, the injured was referred to the Jhansi medical college. After the incident, the driver fled with the dumper. Police are searching for him.According to information, Barkat (22) and Saurabh Khan (23), residents of Mohalla Ganeshganj, and Arbaz Shah (20), a resident of Mohalla Talpura, had gone to Orai to see the tazia. Around 2 O’clock late at night, all three were returning to Kotra on a single motorcycle. On the Ait road, a speeding dumper loaded with sand coming from the Kotra side hit their motorcycle. According to eyewitnesses, the collision was so powerful that the motorcycle was smashed to pieces and all three youths fell far on the road. Barkat and Saurabh died on the spot, while Arbaz was seriously injured. On receiving the information, Station House Officer inspector Vimlesh Kumar reached the spot with the police force. The injured were rushed to the hospital, where doctors, seeing his condition critical, referred him to the Jhansi medical college. Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem. As soon as the news of the accident was received, a pall of gloom descended in the respective localities of the deceased.This incident, which occurred amid the mournful atmosphere of Muharram, sent a wave of grief throughout the entire town. Police have registered a case against the absconding dumper driver and started a search. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is also being examined.
