The United States, Israel, and Lebanon have signed a U.S.-brokered trilateral framework agreement aimed at reducing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the deal as “the beginning of the beginning,” emphasizing it as an important first step toward lasting peace and security. The agreement is expected to lead to a limited Israeli military withdrawal from parts of southern Lebanon, though full details have not yet been released. Officials from both Israel and Lebanon praised the negotiations while acknowledging that significant challenges remain before a broader and lasting settlement can be achieved.
