Banking and Finance Law Summit 2026

The third edition of ETLegalWorld’s Banking & Finance Law Summit (BFLS) is set to take place in less than a week, bringing together some of India’s most prominent banking lawyers, compliance officers, general counsels, and regulatory officials under one roof for an evening of substantive dialogue and debate.

Themed “Rewriting the Financial Legal Playbook: Regulation, Risk & Resilience in 2026,” the summit will open with a Welcome Address by Maulik Vyas, Senior Editor, The Economic Times, before diving into a packed agenda that traverses everything from AI and capital markets regulation to financial crime and boardroom accountability.

The event’s Chairperson Address will be delivered by Nilanjan Sinha, General Counsel, ICICI Bank, who will examine how global geopolitical tensions and changes are fundamentally redrawing the map of Indian banking and finance law in 2026.

Panel Discussions:

The New Financial Order

The first panel discussion, moderated by Pavani Reddy, Legal Director, Clyde & Co., will take on the theme of AI, regulation, and capital flows in a fragmented global economy. The panel brings together Sunil Kumar, Group President and Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at Federal Bank; Satyanandan Atyam, Chief Risk Officer at Tata AIG General Insurance; Piyush Chamria, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Edelweiss Global Markets; and Khyati Parekh, General Counsel at EAAA India Alternatives. The discussion will probe how financial institutions are recalibrating their legal and compliance frameworks as AI reshapes credit, trading, and regulatory oversight simultaneously.

IBC at a Crossroads

A decade since its enactment, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code remains both a landmark reform and a work in progress. In an Insight Session moderated by Tanuj Hazari, Associate Partner, KNM & Partners, panelists Nishad Davis (Head-Legal, South Indian Bank), Srividhya Sridhar (Group General Counsel, Vivriti Capital), Manas R. Gautam (Legal Head Litigation, AU Small Finance Bank), and Pradeep Srivastava (SVP Legal and Head West Zone, HDFC Bank) will dissect the IBC’s institutional gaps, mixed resolution outcomes, and what structural reforms the next decade demands.

Exclusive Spotlight: The Prevention of Corruption Act

In a focused Exclusive Presentation, Yatri Dave Vitekar, Chief Vigilance Officer, SEBI, will address a question with growing relevance for both public and private sector financial institutions, the applicability and evolving interpretation of the Prevention of Corruption Act across the financial ecosystem.

Power Panel: Multi-Regulator Scrutiny

As RBI, SEBI, and the Enforcement Directorate increasingly act in concert, financial institutions are finding themselves fielding simultaneous regulatory actions. Moderated by Shruti Rajan, Partner, Trilegal, this panel will feature G. Ram Mohan Rao, Executive Director, SEBI; Neetu Juneja, Director and Group Chief Compliance Officer, Motilal Oswal Financial Services; Neeta Lalit Sanghavi, Head of Compliance & Legal, CLSA India; and Shilpi Jaiswal, Vice President-Legal, M&G Global Services, mapping out strategies for managing overlapping and intensifying multi-regulator scrutiny in 2026.

The session on GIFT City will assess whether India’s most ambitious international financial services experiment is delivering on its regulatory promise. Panelists include Garima Nahar, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer & Head of Secretarial, Jio BlackRock Asset Management; Nehal Shah, Group Head Compliance & Legal, Ambit Pvt Ltd; Praman Preet Singh Gujral, Deputy Director – Legal and Compliance, Policybazaar Insurance Brokers; and Abhishek Thanvi, General Counsel, Bank of New York.

Financial Crime 3.0: Are Banks Fighting Yesterday’s War?

Cyber attacks, AI-enabled fraud, and AML failures are converging into a new breed of financial crime that existing legal and compliance infrastructure may not be equipped to handle. This session will feature Aditya Goenka, President, Principal Officer and Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, YES Securities; Vikas Jalan, CFO, Paynearby; Shivli Katyayan, Head of Legal Affairs, Razorpay; Abin Mathew, Head – Fraud Risk & Strategy, State Bank of Mauritius (India); and Siddharth Ratho, Head – Litigations, Nuvama Group.

The Boardroom Dilemma

The summit’s final panel will turn to corporate governance, examining how boards are balancing aggressive growth mandates against risk management and accountability obligations. Panelists include Aparna Rawat, CLO, L&T Finance; Shishir Kumar, Chief Compliance Officer & General Counsel, Aseem Infrastructure Finance Limited; and Ashish Lakhtakia, General Counsel, Chief Regulatory Affairs and Company Secretary, Generali Central Insurance Company Limited.
