Kanpur: Two people were killed and two others injured after a mini-truck carrying date palm saplings rammed into a truck on the Bundelkhand Expressway in Jalaun district early Friday. The accident occurred near Kaitheri Toll Plaza after the truck ahead allegedly braked suddenly, causing the mini-truck to ram into it from behind.The toll plaza rescue team rushed to the spot and used a cutter machine to open the damaged cabin. Four occupants, including the driver and cleaner, were rescued and taken to the Orai Medical College hospital, where doctors declared the driver, Nitesh (30), and labourer Moin (32) dead. The cleaner, Vishnu Yadav, and another labourer, Bablu, sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.Dakor police station in-charge Devendra Singh said the truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Traffic on one lane of the expressway remained disrupted for nearly half an hour before being restored.
