Srinagar, Aug 29: Two personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Fire & Emergency Services died after suffering cardiac arrest at their respective places of posting in Srinagar and Budgam on Saturday, officials said.
Bilal Ahmad (LFM-1306), a resident of Bemina, Srinagar, suffered a cardiac arrest while on duty at the F&ES Headquarters in Batamaloo, according to officials. Ahmad, a member of the 1998 batch, was posted at the headquarters and was performing duties as an RP.
In a separate incident, Ghulam Qadir (MD-30) suffered a cardiac arrest while on duty at Fire Station Magam in Budgam, officials said.
The deaths of the two personnel on the same day cast a pall of gloom over the Fire & Emergency Services department, with colleagues remembering them for their service and commitment to duty.
Further details regarding the circumstances of the deaths and funeral arrangements were awaited.
