Krishnagiri: Two men were arrested for smuggling 10kg of ganja on a private bus which was heading from Bengaluru to Madurai, in the early hours of Thursday. They were apprehended by the district police during a vehicle check at the Jujuwadi border check post near Hosur.Police officers from the Hosur SIPCOT station were screening vehicles crossing the Tamil Nadu–Karnataka border, when they stopped a ‘Mettur Super Service’ bus bound for Madurai. Special sub-inspector Nagarajan, along with head constables Murugan and Vallal, thoroughly checked passengers’ belongings, during which they found five packets containing 10kg of ganja from two shoulder bags. “The contraband was immediately seized, and the two passengers were detained,” the SSI said.The arrested were subsequently identified as M Sanjay, 24, from Usilampatti, in Madurai district, who is engaged in milk trade, and S Gautham, 34, from Periyakulam, in Theni district, who is employed with a private online delivery company. Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo had purchased the ganja in bulk from a supplier named Rajapandi in Bengaluru’s Madiwala area and were attempting to transport it to Madurai for resale.Both were taken to SIPCOT police station, where a case has been registered. Police have also launched a manhunt for the supplier and are investigating further.
