T’puram: Museum police on Thursday arrested two men for allegedly molesting a woman who was having dinner at a roadside eatery near Sri Mulam Club at Vazhuthacaud on Tuesday night.The arrested have been identified as Vivek (28) of Rajaji Nagar and Arun Kumar (33) of Vattiyoorkavu. Police said Vivek is the prime accused, while Kumar allegedly helped him escape immediately after the incident.According to police, the incident occurred around 8.45pm. Vivek was travelling in an autorickshaw driven by Kumar when the vehicle allegedly brushed against another car in front of the eatery. As people gathered and discussed the minor accident, the woman, who was dining with her family nearby, also spoke about the incident.Police said Vivek then allegedly approached the woman and molested her before attempting to flee. The woman tried to stop him, but he escaped with the assistance of Kumar, police said.Based on the complaint lodged by the woman, police launched a probe and examined CCTV footage from the area. The accused were identified and arrested within an hour of the incident.Both were booked under relevant BNS sections for outraging the modesty of a woman and other applicable offences. They were later produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.The arrests were made by a team led by Museum SHO Prashanth.
