Rajkot: Two persons of Morbi were allegedly cheated of Rs 16 lakh in a fake copper scrap deal after fraudsters promised to sell cable scrap lying near Mata No Madh in Kutch.Harilal Gurjar, 42, a scrap trader from Morbi, told police that he transferred Rs 9.48 lakh through RTGS on July 6 after being shown the material on sight in Kutch and receiving bank details in the name of Mahalaxmi Enterprise. The accused promised to issue a GST bill and arrange delivery after payment.In a related transaction, Ankit Vikani transferred Rs 6.50 lakh to Nitesh Devipujak’s account on June 30 towards a joint purchase. He was later told that the account had been blocked.When the scrap was not delivered, the accused switched off their phones. Gurjar later claimed that one accused, Irfan, admitted to conspiring with the others and expecting Rs 2 lakh.Morbi Cybercrime police have registered a case against Nitesh Devipujak, Irfan, Imtiyaz, Mayur and one unknown person.
