Palanpur: Banaskantha police arrested two persons from the Shihori police station area and seized 488 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 500 denomination with a face value of Rs 2.44 lakh, along with other articles worth around Rs 1.23 lakh.According to police, the accused were identified as Devram Joshi, a resident of Shihori in Kankrej taluka, and Ramesh Vaghela, a resident of Ubri in Kankrej taluka.Police said they received information that Joshi was carrying counterfeit notes on an a scooter. A team intercepted him and recovered the notes from the scooter’s storage compartment. During investigation, police also arrested Vaghela and recovered Rs 3,000 in cash and a mobile phone from him.Besides the notes, the seized items included two mobile phones valued at Rs 90,000, Rs 3,000 in cash and scooter valued at Rs 30,000, taking the total value of the seized material to around Rs 3.67 lakh.Police registered a case at Shihori police station under sections of BNS.
