As a part of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police arrested two drug peddlers in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Police spokesperson said that police party from Police Post Keegam during naka checking at Aribagh Pirpora intercepted two suspicious persons. During search, 508 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Malla and Fardeen Ahmad Malla, both residents of Uthmulla Pulwama. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 16/2026 under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian and investigation has been initiated to trace the forward and backward linkages of the accused person and to unearth the broader network involved in the trade.

Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and appeals to the general public to cooperate in this noble mission.
