Patna: Two persons died and two others were seriously injured after their car went out of control and crashed into a road divider in Nawada district on Wednesday.The incident occurred when the family was travelling from Bokaro to Bakhtiyarpur to attend the last rites of an elderly member. The car hit the divider near Kendua village under Akbarpur police station area. The impact of the crash was so severe that a woman and a man travelling in the vehicle died on the spot. A youth and a child sustained serious injuries.The deceased were identified as Rupa Devi (30), wife of Pappu Saw of Mahnar in Patna, and Lal Babu (31), son of Raj Kumar Saw of Bakhtiyarpur.According to family members, Rupa’s grandmother had died on Tuesday and her last rites were scheduled for Wednesday. The bereaved family had left Bokaro during the night to reach home in time for the funeral. Around 3 am, the family received a call informing them that the vehicle had met with an accident and two people had died. Relatives then rushed from Patna to Nawada.The tragedy has left both families devastated. Lal Babu was married only seven months ago. Rupa Devi, meanwhile, leaves behind four children, making the loss devastating for her family.Soon after the accident, Akbarpur police reached the spot and inspected the crash site. The damaged vehicle was examined and information about the circumstances leading to the accident was collected. Police took custody of the bodies and initiated the required legal proceedings. The damaged car was also seized.Akbarpur SHO Surendra Kumar said, “A car went out of control and collided with a divider near Kendua on NH-20. A woman and the car driver died in the accident, while others sustained injuries. The injured have been sent to a hospital for treatment,” he said.The SHO added that police were trying to determine the exact cause of the accident.
