Bettiah: Two police personnel deployed with Dial-112 in Ramnagar, West Champaran, were suspended on Thursday after a viral video prompted an inquiry confirming they had consumed liquor while on duty, officials said on Friday.The suspended personnel were identified as Surendra Kumar Murmu and Sunil Kumar Mahto.According to locals and shopkeepers, the two were allegedly heavily intoxicated and fell from their motorcycle. Locals helped them and sent them to the police station in an autorickshaw. Videos of the incident were later circulated on social media.Following the viral video, the personnel underwent medical examination, while Ramnagar sub-divisional police officer Satyendra Ram conducted an inquiry.The inquiry confirmed liquor consumption. Based on the report, Bagaha SP Rajesh Kumar suspended both personnel with immediate effect on normal subsistence allowance. Their headquarters during the suspension period has been fixed at Bagaha Police Centre.Satyendra said, “On the directions of the SP, I conducted an inquiry into the entire matter, and the inquiry confirmed that they had consumed liquor. Both personnel were performing their duty in the town on a Dial-112 motorcycle after consuming liquor.”He added, “Along with the suspension action, the process for departmental proceedings has also been initiated.”
