Sasaram: Two brothers died early Tuesday morning on Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) tracks between Bhabua Road and Muthani railway stations on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay-Gaya rail section.Dense fog in the area reportedly led to poor visibility, resulting in the fatal accident, police said. The deceased were identified as Prince Kumar (24) and his younger brother Rohit Kumar (22), sons of Madan Sah and residents of Barej village in Kaimur district. According to family members, the two had left their home early in the morning to visit their agricultural fields. Since the village is located on one side of the railway track and the fields on the other, villagers regularly cross the tracks to reach their farms.Rajkumar, the victims’ brother, said thick fog had significantly reduced visibility in the morning, preventing the two from noticing the approaching high-speed train. As a result, both were struck by the train and they died on the spot. The incident triggered strong reactions from local residents, who raised concerns about the lack of safe crossing facilities near Barej village. Villagers demanded the construction of an underpass or overbridge at the location to prevent such tragedies in the future. They said hundreds of farmers cross the railway track daily to access their fields, but the absence of a proper crossing facility continues to put lives at risk. After receiving information about the accident, teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Mohania police reached the spot. RPF personnel S K Pandey said the police took the bodies in custody and completed the necessary legal formalities before sending them to Bhabua Sadar Hospital for the postmortem.
